Immerse yourself in the world of ceramics and learn to work with the potter's wheel on this 10-week intensive course. In small groups, you'll receive thorough instruction in wheel throwing, from the initial steps of centering and shaping simple cylinders to trimming, adding handles and spouts, and exploring both open and closed forms. No prior experience required – the course is designed for beginners seeking solid instruction in a supportive atmosphere.
Course instructor Szabina Lócki is a ceramic artist and educator based in Copenhagen with over four years of teaching experience. Originally from Hungary, she has run her own ceramics studio since 2021 and specializes in wheel-thrown stoneware with clean, functional forms. She emphasizes the rhythm and meditation of working with clay, helping students develop both technical skill and creative confidence.
After bisque firing, you will glaze your pieces on the final afternoon before final firing. The course runs over 10 Tuesdays from 17:00 to 21:00 at Lyrskovgade 2-4, 4th floor, 1758 Copenhagen V. Price: DKK 3,200 including 6.5 kg clay, pre-firing and glazing. Additional clay can be purchased. Registration required. Please note: no classes on December 22nd and 29th.
