Want to try Aikido or learn more about this Japanese martial art? Beginner training at Copenhagen Aiki Shuren Dojo is designed for you if you are just starting out or curious about what Aikido involves.
Each training session begins with warm-up and games, followed by falling techniques — from simple seated falls to more advanced standing rolls and side falls. Basic body techniques are then practiced, focusing exclusively on principles such as balance, body coordination, controlling your opponent, and strength from your center rather than raw muscle power.
Training includes movement techniques (fundamental movement patterns), locking techniques (where you immobilize your partner), and throwing techniques (where you use the force of an attack to execute a throw). Everything is done in pairs and based on trust — you train at a pace and intensity that suits your level. There is no competition, but rather constant personal development: better fitness, confidence, self-defense, community, and insight into Japanese culture.
You can participate in free trial sessions to see if Aikido is for you. Training at Seidokan Japan Center.
