Start your Aikido journey at this beginner-focused class designed to introduce you to the fundamentals. The class emphasizes Aikido's core principles and techniques from the ground up.
Each session includes a warm-up and games, followed by falling techniques — progressing from seated movements to standing rolls and lateral falls. You will then practice body techniques that are simple and accessible, allowing you to naturally absorb Aikido's essential principles: good balance, body coordination, control of your partner, and strength from your center rather than raw muscle power.
Training focus:
- Movement techniques — learn Aikido's characteristic patterns
- Locking techniques — control and hold your partner
- Throwing techniques — use the force of attack and throw your partner
All training is partner-based and built on trust. Intensity is tailored to your level, and you take turns as attacker and defender, growing together. There is no competitive element — instead, you develop personally through community, self-confidence, improved fitness, self-defense, and appreciation of Japanese culture.
Try two free sessions to see if it's for you. Sign up for free and join with an open mind — you'll leave training with a smile!
