Learn Amapiano - a music and dance genre with deep roots in South African township culture. This workshop introduces you to the vibrant and versatile movements that make up this dance style. Instructor Zozo will guide you through fundamental moves such as Pounce, Mnike and Zekethe and explain their cultural significance.
Amapiano stems from the word "iPiano" in the Nguni language and represents far more than just music and dance - it is a lifestyle. The genre developed around 2010 as a fusion of deep house, jazz, lounge atmosphere and Gqom, characterized by its distinctive piano sound and bass line.
You don't need any dance experience to participate - the most important thing is that you enjoy moving to music and want to bring your own personal expression and energy. The workshop is open to all and suits both beginners and more experienced dancers.
