Part of the (af)Magt event series, which explores contemporary geopolitical questions during a turbulent period in world history. This debate focuses on the American midterm elections and their significance for Trump 2.0's political scope.
Historically, the sitting president's party loses ground in midterm elections. But what does a possible Democratic majority in the House of Representatives or Senate mean for Trump's ability to implement his policies? And what are the implications for Europe and Denmark?
A panel of experienced and knowledgeable experts provide insight into the election's background, results, and international consequences – seen from both American and European perspectives. Panel participants include Emil Sondaj Hansen (analyst at think tank EUROPA), Frederik Hjort (lecturer at the Department of Political Science at the University of Copenhagen), and Sidsel Nyholm (foreign editor at Kristeligt Dagblad, former USA correspondent). Felipe Branner serves as moderator.
The event takes place at the University Library on Fiolstræde – a unique venue that sets the stage for serious discussion of world politics.
