Three reading club sessions focused on in-depth reading and discussion of Simone Weil's essay collection "The Great Expectation". The French philosopher and thinker has received renewed attention in Europe, particularly for her reflections on technology, industrialisation and attention, as well as concepts such as "rootedness".
In this reading club, participants explore Weil's personal and theological-philosophical meditation on faith, doubt, love of neighbour and prayer. The collection consists of letters and texts written to Dominican priest Joseph-Marie Perrin and culminates in a profound meditation on the Lord's Prayer.
