BaBa ZuLa TR – 30th Anniversary Concert

BaBa ZuLa, the visionary architects of "Istanbul psychedelic," celebrate three decades of artistic fearlessness. Since their debut on Istanbul's rock scene in 1996, the band has revolutionized perceptions of Turkish music by fusing Oriental instruments – electric saz, darbuka, and percussion spoons – with electronic soundscapes in their own distinctive genre.

Each concert is an unpredictable explosion of sound and visual elements. Through improvisation, BaBa ZuLa creates as many unique experiences as performances – no show is the same. Their legendary stage format blends traditional music with theatre, poetry recitations, belly dancing, costumes, and live drawing. Previously, they have collaborated with artists including Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten), Jaki Liebezeit (Can), and opera star Semiha Berksoy.

Their latest album, Istanbul Sokaklari (2024), was described by BBC Radio 6's Gilles Peterson as "An extraordinary album". In November, they bring their signature contagious Anatolian grooves and audiovisual festivities back to ALICE.
