Anders K. Sørensen shares his passion for birdwatching through inspiring stories and personal reflections. As part of the "Vild med videnskab" festival, he recounts the rediscovery of his childhood fascination with birds – from the excitement of birdwatching trips to encounters with disappointments and unexpected insights.
The lecture explores what makes birdwatching a unique experience: how presence and attention in nature create authentic encounters far removed from digital manipulation. Through his own anecdotes, selected photos from hundreds of birdwatching trips, and conversations with fellow birdwatchers, Anders K. Sørensen paints a picture of Danish nature – both its beauty and strength – and how small nature experiences can be a glimmer of light in times of biodiversity crisis.
The lecture is based on Anders K. Sørensen's book about rediscovering the joy of observing birds and understanding humanity's deep connection to the natural world.
