Be guided through Copenhagen's maritime and mysterious history on this city walk, starting at Nyhavn Canal at Mindeankeret. The walk unfolds around the historic Bremerholm Shipyard, where King Christian I decided in 1510 to gather the Danish naval fleet – a turning point in Danish maritime history.
Along the way, you gain access to two of Copenhagen's most hidden 16th-century buildings: the remains of the rope factory from 1555 and the Sail House from 1579. You pass the Art Deco-styled Stærekassen from 1931, formerly a radio house and venue for the Royal Theatre, and visit areas linked to Copenhagen's cultural golden age, including Brønnums decorative house, where historical figures such as H.C. Andersen, Edward Grieg, and Bournonville were guests.
The walk culminates in Laksegade, where a folkloric account from 1826 recounts unexplained events – including bestial growls and objects thrown from an empty house. A perfect blend of documented history and urban legends about the Danish capital.
