Learn creative writing with Danish-American writer Alexander Weinstein. This dynamic cross-genre workshop explores how to jumpstart your creative writing project, discover the creative voice that brings you to the page, and manage self-doubt and the inner critic. We discuss ways to maintain playfulness and exploration in your writing, examine the benefits of literary experiments, the art of taking risks, and how to bring the major projects you've long wanted to tackle down on paper.
Alexander Weinstein is founder and director of the Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing. He is the author of the short story collections Universal Love and Children of the New World, which was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and Best Book of the Year by NPR and Electric Literature. His short story "Saying Goodbye to Yang" was adapted as the film "After Yang" by A24 Films, which received the Alfred P. Sloan Prize at Sundance, the Boston Society of Film Critics Award, and was named among Barack Obama's Best Films of 2022.
