Experience an immersive, site-specific installation where Gunner Møller Pedersen's pioneering work DA NIENTE from 1977 is reinterpreted by award-winning sound artist SØS Gunver Ryberg. An artistic dialogue across generations and timelines, created in collaboration between Båll & Brand, Strøm and The Royal Theatre.
Møller Pedersen's original composition explores feedback sounds and self-transforming soundscapes – something from nothing. SØS Gunver Ryberg responds with a contemporary perspective in her characteristic futuristic style, with deep respect for the work: "I see it as an artistic conversation across generations, where I listen deeply to Møller Pedersen's vision and offer my own musical expression as a contemporary perspective."
The Installation
A monumental sound and light production unfolds in B&W Hallerne's colossal ship halls. Gigantic pendulums swing from 70 meters high, their movements tracked by lasers that draw meditative oscillations in phosphorescent materials – time becomes visible. The inspiration stems from Léon Foucault's classic pendulum experiment from 1851 in the Panthéon.
A quadraphonic sound system transforms DA's deep subsonic bass into a physical, embodied experience. Light streams from secret passages between hundreds of freight containers, stacked like giant building blocks. Audiences can move freely at their own pace and experience the installation regardless of arrival time.
Practical Information
Free admission with a Kulturnat wristband between 18:00–24:00. The experience runs in continuous loop, new rounds starting every half hour. Individual experience lasts approximately 30 minutes. B&W Hall S2, Refshalevej 175, 1432 Copenhagen K.
This is the third collaboration in the series and concludes the trilogy that began with SOM ILD & VAND and LAMENTATION DE MORUROA – part of Strøm's Lydskatten project, which preserves Danish electronic music history.
