A poetic double concert featuring two of Denmark's most distinctive musicians: Det Bliver Mellem Os and Nikolaj Paakjær. Their encounter promises to be both caustic and moving – intimate and celestial at once.
Nikolaj Paakjær is a singer-songwriter who writes from taverns, roadsides, and heaven itself. His distinctive stories about time and place – from urban romance to poetic everyday scenes – speak to the modern person through relatable references to Danish cultural heritage. He has contributed to both Højskolesangbogen and Kirkesangbogen, and his latest single 'Champagne Metallic Volvo 740' was warmly received and made Politiken's list of 'songs you should hear right now'. Critics note his ability to handle words and language in unexpected ways – his lyrics read like fully fledged poems.
Det Bliver Mellem Os is a poetic quartet, a somewhat hidden gem on the Danish music scene. Songs built on Marie Louise Tüxen's poetry – words that grow from the gynecological bed, the watering hole and the dating app. The group directs its gaze toward the female body and its beauty and decay, but equally toward humanity's common attempt to connect with the world. In their brutally delicate and stark performances, loneliness is countered through potent poetry and tender music. Members are Tanja Thulau Vesterdahl (vocals), Allin Bang (composer and piano) and Marie Louise Tüxen (poetry and vocals).
