Ecstatic Dance by Range of Motion is a guided dance evening that combines meditation in movement with free, ecstatic dance. The event has been developed under Range of Motion's new association framework and is presented as a thematic experience, where each evening explores specific qualities within life and movement.
The evening opens with a guided movement exploration inspired by the night's theme, after which dance unfolds into a free, ecstatic wave. You choose which parts of the program you wish to participate in.
What is Ecstatic Dance?
This dance invites you to approach dance as a moving meditation – a way to celebrate being alive, with all that it includes. The dancefloor is created as a free space without agenda: you dance as if no one is watching, and everyone around you is doing the same. There is no small talk, no smartphones, no shoes – just people moving freely in joy, therapy and medicine for the soul. Whatever mood you arrive in, let it move. There is nothing you can do wrong.

The Music
DJ Ionstrom creates a smooth wave with great variety – a multicolor journey with room for many aspects of being human. The music starts soft and gently builds in intensity, before landing back into the gentle. Expect electronic depth blended with ethnic and organic elements: voices, percussion, spacious bass and raw rhythms. The music supports your encounter with yourself and your moving body in many different ways. Sometimes live elements are woven into the journey.
Ceremonial Cacao
You can supplement the dance with ceremonial cacao (must be pre-ordered at least 24 hours before the event). Cacao can enhance your dance, energize the body and connect you more deeply with yourself and others. Bring your own cup to save single-use materials.
