Experience a captivating live show about humanity's relationship with energy throughout history. Acclaimed journalists Johanne Pontoppidan Tuxen and Mikkel Vuorela deliver with sweeping gestures and compelling narratives about how humans learned to control energy and thereby transformed the world.
From ancient farmers' ingenious exploitation of solar power, which laid the foundation for civilizations such as the Roman Empire, to coal's revolutionary significance and the discovery of oil – and further into the infinite possibilities and dangers of the atom. The show embraces human triumph and contradictions: how we made energy our slave, while we ourselves became dependent on it.
The show is based on the journalists' highly acclaimed podcast Children of the Sun and the book How Humanity Got Superpowers – The History of Energy. Johanne and Mikkel work daily at Dagbladet Information on major narratives at the intersection of science, history and society.
The event is part of Copenhagen Libraries' science festival "Wild About Science", which runs throughout October and November at libraries across the municipality.
