Philosopher Eva von Redecker visits the Goethe-Institut in Copenhagen to present her latest work »Dieser Drang nach Härte« (»This Urge for Hardness«) in conversation with Mads Jedzini. Von Redecker is one of the most prominent philosophers in the German-speaking world and works at the intersection of critical theory, feminism, social philosophy, and capitalism critique.
In her latest work, von Redecker explores authoritarian and fascistic tendencies in our time. Her starting point is an observation that notions of hardness, closure, and authoritarian strength are gaining traction in many societies today. As part of the younger generation of critical theory, she combines academic research with active participation in sociopolitical debates and writes for a broad audience. She draws on figures such as Hannah Arendt, Judith Butler, and the contemporary Frankfurt School around Rahel Jaeggi.
The event takes place in German with Danish summaries and begins at 17:30. Admission opens at 17:00.
