Learn the art of wet felting and create your own beautiful bag in this two-day workshop. Through a combination of water, soap, and carded wool, you will gain experience with the entire process – from carding to finished product. You work over two days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and learn the fundamental principles of felting around a template, while gaining insight into different types of wool.
Day 1: You start by carding and selecting your wool. You design the front of the bag with a piece from a fleece (wool clipped from a whole sheep) of your choice and complete felting the handle.
Day 2: You lay out wool for the bag itself and complete the felting process. You will also have the opportunity to add sailor rings to the handle if you wish, and can potentially sew the handle on.
Hedestrik focuses on Nordic wool as a byproduct from sheep farmers and aims to highlight wool's environmental perspective as well as challenge commercial yarn and knitting culture. Feel free to bring a packed lunch – there is a shared lunch break in the middle of the day. Tickets are non-refundable.
