Attend a thought-provoking lecture with Danish/Afghan author Uzma Akbari, exploring literature's role as a tool for resistance against censorship and social control. Through insights into the Afghan poetic form landai, Akbari will illustrate how words can serve as resistance under oppression.
Uzma Akbari graduated from the Danish Writers' School in 2024 and is currently studying literature at the University of Copenhagen. She has particular experience translating and working with landai poetry and explores this poetic form experimentally in her own writing.
The event is part of Danish PEN's #ForbiddenBooks 2026 campaign, which highlights censored literature and the fight for freedom of expression worldwide.
