Sociologist Nikolaj Schultz discusses the existential condition of humanity in an era of climate crisis and landscape transformation. Schultz is renowned for the internationally acclaimed work A Note on the New Ecological Class (co-written with Bruno Latour, translated into 15 languages) and his recent book Landsyge, which explores living with the awareness that every action impacts the planet and thus our own existential situation.
The conversation explores how climate crisis transforms us as human beings as the physical landscape changes, and whether we need a new existentialism. Moderator Janus Lauritsen guides the discussion, which also invites questions and debate from the audience.
The event is part of the Main Library's conversation series in collaboration with the magazines RÆSON and ÆRA, where significant voices are invited to speak about the world yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
