Shape Clay in the Morning: Basic Ceramics Course with Manuel Canu

Join a 10-week introductory ceramics course with experienced ceramicist Manuel Canu. This project-based programme introduces you to techniques such as coil building, slab construction, press moulding, and kurinuki, while you develop your own ceramic works including bowls, vases, sculptures, and decorative objects.

Each lesson begins with a concrete project. Manuel presents inspirational materials through objects, images, and visual references that help you develop your ideas and find your own formal language. You will be guided from sketch through construction to glazing and firing, giving you deeper insight into both the craft and artistic expression.

The course is open to both beginners and experienced participants. Teaching is tailored to your level, allowing you to work at your own pace. If you have attended previous courses with Manuel, you can build on your existing skills.

An important part of the programme is conscious and sustainable work. You are encouraged to prioritize quality and dedication over quantity, and to reflect on the consumption of materials and energy in your creative process.
