VEGA presents a unique musical experience with the Danish trio Whalebird, performing at Store VEGA on October 4th. The ensemble combines elegant piano figures, crystalline guitars, and a swaying double bass into a completely distinctive musical universe.
The trio consists of Jonathan Fjord Bredholt (piano and harmonium), Jeppe Lavsen (guitar), and Anders Juel Bomholt (double bass). Their interplay unfolds between warm acoustic tones and subtle use of atmospheric effects, creating a distinct sound that is simultaneously intimate and grand. Since their debut in 2017, Whalebird has developed into one of Denmark's most distinctive instrumental groups, with a sound that moves freely across genres.
Last year, the band released the full double LP Bag Vore Øjne Strømmer Drømme Sagte Forbi, which through experimentation and guest musicians added new layers to their expression. As a live band, Whalebird is known for their presence and ability to create enchanting complete experiences, where audiences are invited into a universe of sublime beauty. For their live performance, they received the award "Live Name of the Year" at DMA Jazz in 2025.
