Imarhan DZ

Imarhan, the iconic desert blues band from Tamanrasset in Algeria, celebrates 20 years with a live concert. The band is renowned for its soulful, hypnotic approach to the tuareg tradition's guitar hymns, which they interpret with urban groove, soul inspiration, and influences from rock and raï music. Their music is a fusion of the nomadic tuareg culture's spiritual roots and modern sounds from southern Algeria.

In 2022, Imarhan played a sold-out concert at ALICE and now returns to the venue. Today, Imarhan ranks alongside musicians like Tinariwen and Mdou Moctar among the most important voices in tuareg music and has been praised in publications such as The Guardian. Their fourth album "ESSAM" (City Slang, 2016), released as part of the jubilee celebration, shows new directions for desert blues with more experimental and open expression.
