Juuls 100th Anniversary Tasting #10 - Nikka Vintage Tasting

Juuls celebrates 100 years, and for the occasion they are arranging an exclusive whisky tasting focusing on Japanese Nikka whisky. Together with Raphael Cristini, European Brand Ambassador for Nikka, you have the opportunity to taste eight unique, vintage bottlings from some of the world's most acclaimed distilleries.

Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, known as the founder of Japanese whisky. After studying in Scotland – as the first Japanese – at University of Glasgow and at distilleries such as Longmorn, Bo'ness and Hazelburn, Taketsuru started his first distillery, Yoichi, on the northern island of Hokkaido. Here, powerful, maritime whisky is produced in Campbeltown style. He opened his second distillery, Miyagikyo, in 1969 outside Sendai and produces elegant, fruity whisky in Scottish Speyside style as well as grain whisky. Today, Nikka is Japan's second-largest whisky producer with multiple times the title of world-class best whisky.

Tasting Program:

• Nikka Coffey Grain Single Cask, 60 anniversary for LMDW
• Nikka Coffey Malt 1998
• Pure White Malt of Nikka
• Nikka Miyagikyo 12 Year Old Single Malt
• Nikka Tsuru Ceramic 17 Year Old Pure Malt
• Nikka Taketsuru 21 Year Old Pure Malt

For over ten years, Juuls has saved rare Nikka whisky for this special evening – whiskies that are no longer available on the market, ranging from single cask bottlings and aged single malt to pure malts from 17-25 years old and limited releases. Some bottlings are so rare that they are only available for tasting. Others you can purchase at the same price they cost 10+ years ago – this offer applies only this evening.

The tasting is held in English, and doors open at 6:10 PM. The event takes place at Det Ny Teater (the scenery under Det Ny Teater), Copenhagen.
