Learn to throw pottery from scratch in the studio at Vesterbro Library and Cultural Centre under the guidance of ceramicist Marianne Krumbach. The course is designed for beginners – whether you have never thrown before or wish to practise your fundamental techniques.
You will be introduced to essential skills: centering clay, throwing cylinders, throwing simple forms, trimming, attaching handles and glazing. Along the way you will learn about different stoneware clays, tools and processes. Each session ends with thorough cleaning of the studio.
Marianne Krumbach is a graduate of the Design School in Kolding and works from her studio in Copenhagen NV. She specialises in nature-inspired sculptural works and has exhibited widely both in Denmark and internationally.
Practical details: 10 Mondays from 17.8.2026 to 26.10.2026 (no class week 42). Maximum 10 participants. The course includes 8 kg of clay, firing and glazing. Extra clay can be purchased (max. 3 kg). You are expected to help with cleaning. Bring work clothes. English-speaking participants can receive simultaneous interpretation – inform the instructor at your first session. Price: 3200 kr.
