Discover the art of ceramic wheel throwing in a cozy studio at Vesterbro Library and Culture House under the guidance of artist Marianne Krumbach. The course is aimed at you who have never thrown before, or who want to strengthen your basic techniques.
You learn the essential skills from the start: centering, pulling up to a cylinder, and shaping simple forms. As the course progresses, you explore more advanced elements such as trimming, adding handles, and glazing. You will also receive an introduction to different types of stoneware clay and tools used in the throwing process.
About the instructor: Marianne Krumbach is trained from the Design School in Kolding and works from her studio in Copenhagen NV. She primarily works with modeled, nature-inspired sculptural objects as well as thrown projects and has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally.
Practical info: The course runs for 10 Mondays from November 9, 2026 to January 18, 2027 (no classes in week 53). The group has space for 10 participants. Prices include tuition, 8 kg of clay, firing, and glazing. You can purchase up to 3 kg of additional clay. Bring practical clothing – you will get dirty! All participants help with tidying up after classes.
