Experience an exclusive guided tour behind the scenes of the museum's new special exhibition with curator and director Annette Johansen. After regular closing hours, you gain private access to the exhibition, where you delve into the stories and perspectives behind Thorvaldsen's Painting Collection.
The works tell stories through romantic ruins, dramatic mountain landscapes and lively festival scenes – all motifs that fascinated artists of the time. Many paintings are displayed for the first time in years, particularly because they lie outside the traditional Danish Golden Age narrative. You thus gain a completely new perspective on the period and its art history.
Places are limited, and tickets are sold in advance. The tour begins at 5 p.m. in the museum's entrance hall. Your ticket also grants full access to the entire museum for the rest of the day, so you can arrive earlier and explore the other collections. Annual pass holders must purchase a separate ticket to participate in the tour.
