Lagos Thugs delivers a life-affirming afrobeat experience straight from Nigeria's vibrant music scene. The ten-piece ensemble celebrates infectious polyrhythms, powerful brass arrangements, and a compelling collective energy that both honors afrobeat's classic roots and gives it a contemporary voice.
Since its formation in 2020, the band has quickly established itself as one of Nigeria's most engaging live ensembles. The music draws from afrobeat's iconic essence while maintaining a connection to the legendary Fela Kuti, with hypnotic polyrhythms, warm brass sounds, spontaneous improvisation, and call-and-response elements unfolding across longer, intensely energetic pieces. Each concert creates direct communication between the stage and audience, and the dance floor becomes a natural gathering place for listeners.
The debut album "CHAOS" released in 2024 was met with critical acclaim and confirmed the band's place on the modern afrobeat scene. The songs explore themes of power structures, social injustice, freedom, and African identity while continuing afrobeat's historical role as both protest music and cultural connector. The band has shared stages with artists such as Ezra Collective, Seun Kuti, Made Kuti, Egypt 80, and Antibalas. Expect an energetic concert where movement and dance are an integral part of the experience.
