Immerse yourself in the world of ceramic arts and learn to use the throwing wheel to create and glaze your own pottery on this five-evening course at Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus. The program encompasses 25 hours of intensive instruction (5 evenings × 5 hours) and introduces participants to the fundamentals of wheel throwing. The course suits both beginners and experienced potters seeking guidance in their learning journey.
What will you learn? You start by mastering basic cylindrical forms and building essential techniques and confidence at the wheel. The course then progresses to closed forms, trimming, and open shapes such as bowls, where you refine control and form. Midway through the course, you will design and create your own pieces by applying the skills you have developed. In the final sessions, you explore decorative techniques, prepare your work for the first firing, glaze your pieces, and prepare them for the second firing. By the end of the course, you will have a collection of finished ceramic pieces and a strong foundation in wheel throwing.
