Experience innovative cellist Leila Bordreuil on a compelling musical journey. The French-American artist transforms the cello through extreme amplification, feedback, and electronic elements, creating a unique soundscape where organic string sounds meet roaring noise fields and synthetic tones. Her approach to the instrument opens entirely new territories—from melodic expression to abstract sound.
Bordreuil, based in Brooklyn, has collaborated with musicians such as Thurston Moore, Toshimaru Nakamura, Laurel Halo, Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth, Kali Malone, and Drew McDowall from Coil. Her music moves at the intersection of improvisation and electronic experimentation, pushing the classical nature of the cello into new frontiers. With an upcoming album on Relative Pitch, she continues her work challenging what the cello can be.
The evening opens with Mimosa Baker x nrl:ndr, exploring numbness through drones, distortion, and vocal loops. The music develops in cyclical patterns, where silence has space to resonate.
