How does literature create connections between people, cultures and stories? Sydhavnens Library invites you to a literary salon organised by Bogkurator, which focuses on Turkish-British author Elif Shafak and her latest novel The Rivers of Heaven.
Through an introduction to Shafak's authorship, readings and conversation with the audience, the central themes of her work are explored. The Rivers of Heaven is an epic tale rooted in the rivers of Mesopotamia, spanning centuries and human lives – addressing identity, belonging, migration and cultural heritage. No prior knowledge of the book is required; the event welcomes everyone who wishes to meet one of Turkey's most important writers.
Tickets are free and become available on 7 September at the library during opening hours.
