A personal and professional lecture about being a parent of a child with autism when institutions and schools fail to meet the child's special needs. Trine Højbjerre (Trine-ht), herself a mother of a boy with infantile autism, shares her experiences from a long struggle through the system – about doubt, helplessness, and hope. She tells what it means for the family when the child comes home overwhelmed and reacts violently, and what price it costs parents, siblings and partnerships.
Social worker Pernille K. Trondal (din.rigtige.socialrådgiver) provides professional insights into the rights many parents don't know about and shows how you can better navigate the system when your child needs help. Together they paint a picture of how wrong frameworks and lack of resources affect children's wellbeing and development – and how parents can be better heard.
After the lecture there will be time for questions, networking and the opportunity to meet others in the same situation.
