Join us in the tower room for an evening exploring witches in music throughout cultural history. The witch is a recurring symbol among female musicians as an expression of resistance and freedom – but what drives this choice, and what does it tell us about gender, power, and artistic self-determination?
We explore witch symbolism from Stevie Nicks, Yoko Ono, and Courtney Love to Florence Welch and beyond – connecting the music with literary sources, historical myths, real persecutions, and old ideas about what made someone a witch.
The evening is facilitated by Anya Mathilde Poulsen, librarian and author of "Vilde kvinder, mørke toner – on gender and music". Admission: 100 kr.
