No One Can Find Me Here

Lecture by Associate Professor Bidisha Banerjee from the Institute of Literary and Cultural Studies at The Education University of Hong Kong. The lecture is held in English.

Banerjee explores the boundaries between human and non-human environments through graphic refugee novels depicting migrants on their perilous journeys across the Mediterranean. Drawing on works such as Mediterraneo by Sergio Nazzaro and Luca Ferrara, The Mediterranean by Armin Greder, and the children's narratives in Illegal and Zenobia, she analyzes how these graphic novels convey the migration crisis and cultivate empathy for both people and environment. The lecture connects to the SOLID exhibition and draws on Blue Humanities to examine how graphic art can counteract environmental manipulation and evoke compassion.
