Oorleef Dance Project, an acclaimed dance company from Cape Town, presents their significant production "The Battle Is In The Mind" in Copenhagen for the first time. The work is a raw, physical, and deeply moving exploration of what it means to survive your own mind.
Oorleef (meaning "survive" in Afrikaans) is a dance group that does not merely perform about mental health – they perform through it. Every movement comes from the dancers' own lived experiences: relentless anxiety, the weight of depression, the quiet war of self-doubt, and the hard-won moments of breakthrough. This is contemporary dance without pretense – bodies in inner conflict, silence that speaks louder than words, and collapses followed by moments of flight.
The performance is presented as part of the dance company's very first international tour, arranged through a collaboration between MAKE SPACE and Oorleef Dance Project. For audiences in Copenhagen, this is a rare opportunity to witness South African contemporary dance at its most authentic and unfiltered.
