Join an inspiring evening at the Central Library dedicated to dyslexia and reading difficulties for children, young people, and their parents. The event takes place as part of Dyslexia Awareness Week and brings together children from middle and upper primary school with their adults around practical guidance and experience sharing.
Author Jesper Sehested is the main speaker of the evening. His own journey from scoring 71 spelling errors in a class dictation in 9th grade to being a self-employed author and experienced public speaker today demonstrates that dyslexia does not have to be a life limitation. He will share his personal story about childhood and adolescence with dyslexia and tell how he found the motivation to develop despite the challenges.
Program
- 17:00–17:45: Jesper Sehested speaks from the stage about his life with dyslexia
- 17:45–19:00: Individual guidance and questions in smaller groups around the floor
After the main lecture, participants will have the opportunity to discuss challenges and solutions with specialized resource persons:
- Carsten Milan — reading consultant, primary school teacher, and study support coordinator specializing in dyslexia. He can advise on learning strategies, reading and writing technology, and support options at higher education institutions.
- Thomas Boisen — librarian at Copenhagen Libraries, answering questions about library resources and services specifically for dyslexic users.
The event is part of the Central Library's series on children's language, literature, and media, where the library explores current topics relevant to children and adults.
