The Ørestad Sound & Science festival opens its annual Nordic theme with an inspiring combination of lectures, conversation and music. Professor Annette Lassen from the University of Copenhagen sheds new light on Norse mythology from a gender history perspective – what happens when we read the myths from women's point of view? Women feature less prominently than men in saga literature, but appear in diverse roles worth exploring.
Film director Maria Tórgaard and composer Lil Lacy share their vision for the cross-disciplinary production JÖRÐ, where they revisit Norse mythology through modern, global inspiration – from H.C. Andersen's The Little Mermaid to Beyoncé. The event includes film clips and is brought to musical life by singers from ÆTLA Vocal Ensemble, who present songs in various Nordic languages.
