Basement in Copenhagen hosts Post Punk Fest Cph II, an evening dedicated to post-punk and dark sounds. The bill features The Foreign Resort, Pink Turns Blue, Date at Midnight and Absence of Purpose, creating a line-up of both international names and newer voices from the scene.
Pink Turns Blue is a German rock band from Cologne, formed in 1985, and is considered part of the first generation of gothic rock in Germany. Their debut LP If Two Worlds Kiss had a new wave sound with dark undertones and synthesizers, and the band later evolved toward dark wave. Date at Midnight was formed in Rome in 2007 and draws inspiration from Joy Division, Bauhaus, The Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, Christian Death and Fields of the Nephilim. Absence of Purpose is a post-noir rock trio that combines melancholy, post-punk guitar melodies and dark lyrics, and last year released the singles Jesus on Adderall and Purple Light.
Doors open at 19.30, and the concert starts at 20.00. Advance tickets cost 150kr. (+ fee), and tickets at the door cost 170kr. Basement sets the stage for an evening of three strong and dark concerts that go straight to the heart.
