Meet Icelandic composer, pianist and vocalist Sigurdís Tryggvadóttir, presenting her debut album 'Bergmál fjallanna' (Echo of the Mountains). After spending several years in Denmark, Sigurdís has developed a fresh perspective on her Icelandic heritage. Through her musical work, she explores how memories, stories and voices can find new expression and meaning.
Sigurdís' music draws from jazz, classical piano and Icelandic folk music. The work combines her own compositions with poems and songs by her great-uncle, Jónas Tryggvason. Her inspiration stems from their shared homeland in northwest Iceland — a region defined by dramatic landscape and shifting moods.
On stage, she is joined by bassist Mariusz Praśniewski and drummer Péter Horváth. Together they create music that moves between structured composition and free improvisation. The audience is invited into a poetic sonic world exploring themes of connection, dreams, sorrow and love — human experiences that transcend time and culture.
