Family histories hold both tragic and comical moments — from grandfather's role in the resistance movement to everyday ordinary events in a suburban neighborhood. Turning these personal narratives into written form is a skilled and emotionally demanding challenge that this workshop addresses.
Johanne Mygind, author of the novels Years of Love and Poison — both inspired by her own family's history — guides participants through practical writing exercises and concrete techniques to transform memories into authentic literature. The workshop also addresses the psychological and emotional aspects that can emerge when delving into the past. It includes short writing activities, analysis of literary examples, and time for feedback from the instructor and fellow participants.
Mygind has a background as a journalist at Weekendavisen, Information, and DR P1, which shapes her understanding of how to express truth through storytelling.
