Writing Workshop: Write Essays

Learn to master the essay genre with author and journalist Amalie Langballe. An essay is an attempt, and this workshop takes you through the genre's key elements across creative and non-fiction writing.

We explore the essay's essential components: how to build a linguistic structure, what role the author should play, and how to engage with other texts? The workshop combines a lecture with practical writing exercises, giving you the opportunity to experiment yourself.

About the instructor: Amalie Langballe is an author and journalist who uses personal narrative to explore themes of sexuality, power, and boundaries. She debuted in 2019 with "forsvindingsnumre" and has since published the novels "elskende" (2025) and the essay collection "Nye dyder" (2026).

Practical information: The workshop takes place at Glassalen in Kvarterhuset from 19:00 to 21:00. Bring your own computer and/or paper and pen — desk space is very limited, so you will likely need to keep it in your lap. Free entry, but registration is required.
