Bill Laurance, the London-based pianist from Grammy-winning collective Snarky Puppy, presents an intimate solo concert on the grand piano. His musical universe combines jazz improvisation with neoclassical minimalism – a soundscape that, without a band around him, lets his melodic instinct, harmonic invention and virtuosic technique shine through with complete honesty and sensitivity.
Laurance has earned his place among Europe's most respected pianists. As one of the founders of Snarky Puppy – a group that has won five Grammy Awards and toured to sold-out halls worldwide – he has simultaneously developed a solo career that flourishes with acclaimed albums and collaborations with jazz legends such as David Crosby, Michael League and the WDR Big Band. His repertoire spans wide, and his concerts explore the full range of the keyboard from intellectual depth to pure emotional resonance.
DownBeat Magazine writes: "Bill Laurance is a master of mood and melody. His solo performance is a display of tension, resolution and orchestral imagination transferred to the acoustic piano." The Guardian adds: "The Snarky Puppy keyboardist proves to be a formidable solo artist. His music is both intellectually stimulating and speaks deeply to the emotions."
Admission: 440 DKK (+ possible fees). Venue: Jazzhus Montmartre.
