Tamikrest (ML) | Stairway

Experience the Malian rock band Tamikrest's intense blend of psychedelic rock, hypnotic trance, and melodies from the rich heritage of Saharan musical traditions. For two decades, the band has been a prominent voice in international Saharan rock, drawing on the musical traditions of the Kel Tamasheq people, which they combine with raw rock music, hypnotic rhythms, and psychedelic guitars.

The concert features music from the band's sixth album, Assikel – a word meaning "journey" or "journey through life" in Tamasheq. The album was recorded live on analog tape and carries a raw, intimate sound that highlights the band's chemistry and intense musical expression. The songs range from energetic Ishumar rock to more contemplative passages, with lyrics addressing exile, displacement, homesickness, and resistance – as well as a love of music and community.
