Step directly into the heart of theater when an ensemble of accomplished performers opens the theater's toolkit. The production is directed by Staffan Valdemar Holm and draws on texts from theater's great history – from ancient Aischylos and Euripides through Shakespeare, Molière and Strindberg to modern authors like Norén.
What makes theater truly special? Karen-Lise Mynster, Stina Ekblad, Tina Gylling Mortensen, Nicolas Bro, Jens Albinus and Olaf Johannessen take the stage to find the answer. Through a collage of dramatic, poetic and humorous scenes spanning 2500 years of theater history, you meet classic figures such as Hamlet, Macbeth, Clytemnestra and Miss Julie. Together they explore the magic of acting – how words and bodies transform an empty room into illusions that move audiences to tears, laughter, applause and perhaps even booing.
With set designer Bente Lykke Møller, Holm creates an almost bare theater where the text and the performers' skill alone must work magic. It becomes Holm's final work on the Main Stage, where he seeks an answer to a question that even Ingmar Bergman never solved: How do they actually do it?
