The art and creative community ZIR invites you to a unique evening where literature and artistic creation meet. In intimate surroundings, passages from Haruki Murakami's classic work "The Mysterious Library" from 1982 are read aloud, while you create drawings inspired by the Japanese author's captivating words.
Murakami's original and bizarre universe has inspired countless artists throughout the years. An unnamed boy enters a municipal library to borrow books about treasure collection in the Ottoman Empire – and thus begins a dark, sinister journey through underground labyrinths and bizarre encounters. A grumpy librarian and an eerie reading room keeper guard a secret: if the boy cannot memorize the three borrowed books, gruesome consequences await. What actually happens is not revealed here.
You draw to the soundscape of Murakami's thoughts – all materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own tools. The Danish edition is illustrated by artist Kamila Slocinska.
