The Clockworks is an Irish post-punk band returning to VEGA for a headlining show. The quartet has earned recognition from leading media outlets including NME and Clash Magazine for their ability to blend melodic post-punk with lyrical depth, humor, and sensitivity.
The band is releasing The Entertainment in March, the follow-up to their acclaimed debut album Exit Strategy. The new album represents an artistic leap—while the debut was recorded quickly with producer Bernard Butler (known from Suede), the new work draws inspiration from films such as Blade Runner and Drive. It layers pianos, synthesizers, string arrangements, and experimental sound elements in ways that transcend their original punk rock roots.
The Clockworks have described themselves as "the punk rock version of The Streets"—a comparison that caught the attention of legendary record label owner Alan McGee (behind Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, and Oasis), who subsequently signed the band.
