A performance that gives voice to migrant stories rarely heard in public discourse. Rue has spent eight years in uncertainty, forcibly displaced between countries, separated from her family and suffering significant personal losses, before finally receiving protection. Now she shares her journey through the asylum system.
The evening combines Rue's narrative – presented as a drag performance – with insights from a panel of professionals. Chronologically, Rue will unfold her migration story: the origins of her flight, the asylum centres where she lived, forced transfers between countries, and the legal decisions that shaped her fate. The panel will naturally intervene with professional knowledge and perspectives to contextualize her experience.
Panel members: Niels Erik Hansen (human rights lawyer), Clara Dybbroe Viltoft (organizer, lim collective), Sandro Masai (multimedia artist), Themba Lewis (asylum and human rights expert).
The event concludes with food and drinks – a celebration marking the end of a difficult chapter and the beginning of something new and hopeful. After the performance ends (9 pm), there is DJ and music until 11 pm.
Program: 6–9 pm performance and panel, 9–11 pm DJ and music. The event is supported by Snabslanten.
