Experience two fantastic jazz formations in one evening at Paradise Jazz: first Veronika Rud in an intimate trio setup, then Lis Wessberg and her award-winning band Yellow Map with Veronika Rud as a guest soloist.
Veronika Rud is a Danish singer and composer from Aarhus who has created significant attention on the Danish jazz scene since her debut with the EP 'Mens jeg venter' in November 2024. She received the Roagerprisen, was nominated as newcomer of the year for Danish Music Award Jazz 2025, and her music has been widely heard on P8 and radio. Her second EP 'Nothing' became album of the week on P8 and received five hearts in Politikken. Her music is about presence and improvisation with a delicate balance between fragility and playfulness – she invites listeners into her universe, where emotions find both text and tone. Stylistically, she blends Nordic jazz with Americana and folk music in a modern expression.
Lis Wessberg and Yellow Map are back in their original quartet format. After experimenting with new concert formats, Wessberg now releases her third album 'In The Wake of Blue' (2026), following 'Yellow Map' (2021) and 'Twain Walking' (2024). Her trombone is the warm, distinctive center for music that blends strong melodies, Nordic atmospheres, cinematic soundscapes and improvisation into a personal contemporary jazz expression. Veronika Rud appears as a vocal guest soloist and plays a central role on the current album – the meeting between her voice and Wessberg's trombone brings special depth and presence to the music.
