What constitutes a "we", and how are collective relationships formed? In this lecture, philosophy professor Dan Zahavi explores how feelings, thoughts, and actions as part of a community transform one's sense of self, one's relationship to others, and one's way of experiencing the world. He presents recent research in the field and discusses how we-relationships, spanning from intimate partnerships to family bonds, friend groups, professional environments, national communities, and humanity as a whole, shape our identity and shared values.
This event is the third and final lecture in the series "Psychedelics, mindfulness and we relations: Can the self change?" where researchers from the Center for Subjectivity Research explore whether psychedelics, mindfulness, and social connection can alter the boundaries of the self and shape our experience of ourselves, others, and the world around us.
