Join the worksharing of This is (not) the End, where dancers Elvan Tekin and Samuel Francis Pereira explore the connections between body, land, language, and power structures. The project concludes their IN PROCESS residency and will premiere in November 2026 at Sophiensæle in Berlin.
Through the research, the power systems and forms of knowledge that determine which bodies and movements are recognized and valued are examined. Using the concept of epistemic violence, the work explores how dance can function beyond folkloric appropriation and neoliberal identity politics. The duet combines social dances from Levantine traditions with Western codified forms such as waltz. This encounter between different movement forms reveals dance as cultural memory and destabilizes the boundaries between high art and folk practice.
The worksharing begins at 3:00 PM. After a short break around 4:00 PM, participants are invited to give feedback on the work.
