Arjun Ganguly and Nichlas Overgaard perform as 10-Strings Duo — an ensemble named after Reginald Smith-Brindle's work for cello and guitar. Formed in 2023, the duo has since performed in both Copenhagen and Berlin, presenting a repertoire spanning classical, contemporary, and popular music.
The concert unfolds across three musical worlds: original works for cello and guitar plus arrangements of sonatas by Schubert, Boccherini, and Debussy; modern compositions that challenge the instruments' boundaries — including a piece composed by Marianna Filippi; and European popular music by Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, and Duplessy, which beautifully exploits the instruments' tonal colours.
Program includes:
- Robert Schumann: 5 Stücke im Volkston, Op. 102
- Reginald Smith-Brindle: Ten String Music
- Franz Schubert: Arpeggione Sonate (D. 821)
- Maurice Ravel: Pièce en forme de habanera
- José María Sánchez-Verdú: NADA
- Manuel de Falla: Suite Populaire Espagnole
- Mathias Duplessy: Sonate pour guitare et violoncelle en quatre rêves
