A fascinating evening at the Medical Museum in Copenhagen, where researchers from Aarhus University explore how animals can teach us humans about medicine, disease control, and the body's ability to heal itself.
Biologist Ida Cecilie Jensen investigates ants as nature's hidden solution: their bacteria can combat plant diseases and inspire the development of new antibiotics. Henrik Lauridsen, lecturer in clinical medicine, examines how we can learn regenerative medicine by CT and MR scanning marine mammals with special healing abilities – for example, how whale physiology can shed light on the human body's own repair mechanisms in cases of fractures or heart damage.
The lectures take place in the auditorium from 1787, which originally housed the Royal Surgical Academy. After the lecture, a glass of champagne awaits, and there is an opportunity to explore the museum's exhibitions (open until 9 p.m.). A Hypochondriac ticket provides access to all three Evening Consultations in the series.
